Brainteaser Bonanza:

This week, Pocket Gamer's App Army tackled the puzzle adventure, A Fragile Mind, from Glitch Games. The game, a twist on the classic escape room format with added humor, received mixed reviews. While some praised the challenging puzzles and witty elements, others found the presentation lacking.

App Army members shared their experiences:

Swapnil Jadhav initially dismissed the game based on its logo, but found the gameplay surprisingly unique and engaging, particularly enjoying the challenging yet rewarding puzzles. He recommends playing on a tablet for optimal experience.

Max Williams described A Fragile Mind as a point-and-click adventure with static pre-rendered graphics. He appreciated the clever puzzles, often solvable only after exploring other areas, and the humorous fourth-wall breaks. While praising the hint system's helpfulness, he felt it could be slightly less readily available. He found the navigation somewhat confusing at times. Despite this, he considers it a strong example of the genre.

Robert Maines highlighted the first-person perspective and photo-taking mechanic integral to puzzle solving. He found the puzzles difficult, occasionally requiring walkthrough assistance. While acknowledging the graphics and sound were functional rather than exceptional, he recommended the game to puzzle adventure enthusiasts, noting its relatively short playtime.

Torbjörn Kämblad, a fan of escape-room style games, felt A Fragile Mind fell short. He criticized the muddy presentation, hindering puzzle identification, and an inconveniently placed menu button. He also felt the game’s pacing was off, with too many puzzles accessible from the start.

Mark Abukoff, not usually a fan of the genre, found A Fragile Mind enjoyable, praising the visuals, atmosphere, and well-designed hint system. He considered it a good, albeit short, experience for its price.

Diane Close described the game's premise and gameplay using a captivating anecdote. She emphasized the abundance of puzzles and the importance of note-taking. She highlighted the seamless Android performance, extensive options, and the humorous elements woven into the gameplay.
