MachineGames, the studio behind Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, has confirmed a heartwarming detail: players won't be able to harm dogs in the upcoming game. This decision marks a significant departure from the studio's previous work, such as the Wolfenstein series, known for its intense combat, including against animals.

"Indiana Jones is a dog person," stated MachineGames Creative Director Jens Andersson in an interview with IGN. While the game retains the series' trademark action and brawling, encounters with canine companions will be non-lethal. Instead of harming them, players will find themselves employing strategies to scare them away.

Andersson further explained the reasoning behind this choice, highlighting the family-friendly nature of the Indiana Jones IP and the studio's commitment to aligning the game's tone with that image. This approach contrasts sharply with the more violent animal encounters present in games like Wolfenstein.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle launches December 9th on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a PS5 release tentatively scheduled for Spring 2025. Set in 1937, between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, the game follows Indy as he pursues stolen artifacts, leading him on a globe-trotting adventure. While Indy's trusty whip remains a key tool for traversal and combat against human enemies, dog lovers can rest assured their furry friends will remain safe throughout the adventure.
