According to journalist Jason Schreier, the acclaimed studio is developing a brand-new single-player Batman game.
Details remain scarce—Schreier hasn’t confirmed whether it’s a prequel, a direct continuation of the Arkham saga, or something set in an entirely different universe. But one insider claims that Rocksteady is working on Batman Beyond, immersing players in a futuristic Gotham. The goal? A full-blown trilogy. The game is expected to launch on the next generation of consoles.

The Arkham series was renowned for its breathtaking visuals, and a futuristic Gotham could be Rocksteady’s most striking vision yet. The shift to Batman Beyond also resolves a major challenge: Batman’s voice. With the legendary Kevin Conroy passing away in 2022, the studio may turn the spotlight to Terry McGinnis or Damian Wayne—much like Warner Bros. Montreal had planned in its canceled sequel to Batman: Arkham Knight.
Rocksteady’s last project struggled—players didn’t embrace the online shooter, and the game flopped. The studio abandoned its post-launch plans within a year, abruptly concluding the story with a rushed animation that reversed some of the most controversial plot points, revealing that fallen heroes were actually clones.
Now, Rocksteady is back in its element, crafting a new solo Batman adventure. But insiders warn: the project is still years away from hitting our screens.
