CDPR Admits Witcher 3 Gameplay Shortcomings

The Witcher 3, while critically acclaimed, wasn't without its flaws. One significant area of criticism, even among dedicated fans, was the combat system.

In a recent interview, Witcher 4's game director, Sebastian Kalemba, addressed this directly. He highlighted gameplay and monster hunting as key areas demanding substantial improvement. His exact words: “We want to improve the gameplay and the monster hunting experience.”

Kalemba emphasized that the upcoming Witcher 4 trailer will showcase a significant upgrade to monster encounters, focusing on improved fight choreography and emotional impact.

Expect a major combat overhaul in The Witcher 4. Reassuringly, CD Projekt Red acknowledges the shortcomings of previous Witcher titles' combat and is actively addressing them. These improvements are likely to carry over into future installments, especially considering Ciri's role as the protagonist in the planned new trilogy.

Interestingly, developers also plan to incorporate Triss's wedding into the game. In Witcher 3, the "Ashen Marriage" quest was originally slated for Novigrad. The storyline involves Triss's burgeoning feelings for Castello and her desire for a swift marriage. Geralt aids in the preparations, which include monster extermination, procuring alcohol, and choosing a wedding gift.
