Ghost of Yōtei Evokes the Spirit of Classic Samurai Films
Cinematic Japanese Style, Ready at Your Command

The successor to Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei, offers a rich samurai adventure with a fully customizable cinematic experience. A variety of special modes will alter both audio and visuals, as showcased during the game's State of Play on July 10th. These multiple cinematic options are designed to bring the expansive world to life in new ways.
To match different player preferences, Sucker Punch Productions Creative Directors Jason Connell and Nate Fox stated, “We want playing Ghost of Yōtei to feel like stepping into your favorite classic samurai film.” Players can select between English dialogue without subtitles (Standard), English with subtitles (Subtitled), or the fully immersive Japanese dialogue with subtitles (Samurai Cinema).

Elevating the samurai film experience further, Sucker Punch has again partnered with the estate of legendary director Akira Kurosawa to reintroduce Kurosawa Mode. This special setting replicates the director's iconic black-and-white film style, complete with film grain, a dedicated audio filter, and heightened wind effects.
While Kurosawa Mode returns from the previous game, Ghost of Yōtei introduces two new cinematic modes inspired by other influential directors in the samurai genre.
Developed in collaboration with Takashi Miike, director of *13 Assassins*, Miike Mode shifts the camera closer to the protagonist Atsu during combat for a more intense, visceral experience, complete with dynamic mud and blood effects. Producer Shinichirō Watanabe, known for *Samurai Champloo*, contributes Watanabe Mode, which layers original lo-fi beats over exploration and combat sequences.

A beloved feature also makes its return in this sequel. Photo Mode is back in Ghost of Yōtei, allowing players to capture stunning shots of the scenic world at any moment. Users can adjust color grading, time of day, weather, character expressions, wind direction and speed, and even add atmospheric particles like floating bamboo or yellow leaves to create the perfect shot.
Together with the new cinematic modes, these features are set to deliver a significantly enhanced and immersive experience for both newcomers and returning fans.
