FF7 Rebirth Director Shares Insights
No Immediate DLC Plans, but Open to Player Demand
In a December 13th Epic Games blog post interview, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi revealed the team initially considered adding DLC to the PC version. However, prioritizing completion of the trilogy's final installment necessitated focusing resources elsewhere. While no new content is planned currently, Hamaguchi stated that strong player demand could influence future decisions. The team is listening!
A Message to the Modding Community
Hamaguchi also addressed the modding community. While the game lacks official mod support, he acknowledges the inevitable interest and welcomes creative contributions, requesting only that mods remain respectful and avoid offensive or inappropriate content.
The modding community's potential to enhance games is undeniable, with some mods even evolving into standalone titles. Hamaguchi's request reflects a responsible approach to managing user-generated content.
PC Version Enhancements and Challenges
The PC version boasts improved graphics, including enhanced lighting and texture resolutions, addressing previous criticisms of the "uncanny valley" effect on character faces. Higher-end PCs will benefit from significantly improved 3D models and textures exceeding the PS5's capabilities.
The porting process wasn't without its hurdles. Hamaguchi highlighted the challenges of adapting numerous mini-games, requiring unique key configurations, as a significant undertaking.
