The Dungeon faction, also known as the Warlocks' faction, has long captivated fans and seamlessly woven into the rich tapestry of Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era. Our initial foray into Jadame not only introduced us to creatures deeply connected to the Dungeon faction but also showcased their unique domains on the continent. This allowed developers to craft a faction that honors its traditions while injecting fresh, innovative elements into its lore.

If we were to encapsulate the essence of the Dungeon faction throughout the series in just two words, "power" and "outcasts" would be fitting. Our return to the world of Enroth provides a unique opportunity to reimagine these formidable warlocks. Drawing inspiration from the lore of Jadame, especially from Might and Magic VIII: The Alvaric Pact, the Dungeon faction undergoes a significant transformation.

Creatures once seen as mere monsters now form alliances with the red-skinned dark elves, a race historically ostracized for their pragmatic approach. This alliance fosters strength through diplomacy, trade, and strategic pacts, marking a notable departure from the faction's earlier incarnations.

Throughout the Heroes series, the Dungeon faction has been characterized by its skilled warlocks and commanding leaders, each installment offering a unique perspective on their cities and societies:

  • In Heroes I and Heroes II, the servants of Lord Alamar and King Archibald pursued power, rallying creatures under their banners in their quest for dominance.
  • In Heroes III, Nighon's warlords upheld the principle that strength justifies rule, operating from subterranean tunnels while harboring ambitions of conquering Antagarich.
  • In Heroes IV, the chaotic sorcerers and thieves of Axeoth's swamps gathered rogues to stake their claim in the emerging world.
  • From Heroes V through Heroes VII, Ashan's dark elves allied with the Dragon-Goddess Malassa and the underworld, crafting a narrative rich with intrigue and complexity.
