Concord: A Hero Shooter Launching August 23rd with a Detailed Roadmap
With Concord's August 23rd launch fast approaching, Sony and Firewalk Studios have unveiled the game's post-launch content plan. This article summarizes the roadmap and offers gameplay tips.
No Battle Pass Required – A Focus on Rewarding Gameplay
Concord, a hero shooter for PS5 and PC, will launch without a traditional battle pass. Firewalk Studios prioritized a rewarding base experience, where progression unlocks meaningful rewards. The developers aim for a robust experience from day one, focusing on account and character leveling.
Season 1: The Tempest – Arriving in October
Season 1, titled "The Tempest," introduces a new Freegunner character, a fresh map, additional Freegunner variants, and new cosmetic items. Weekly cinematic vignettes will expand the lore surrounding the Northstar crew. An in-game store will also debut, offering purely cosmetic items with no gameplay impact.
Season 2 and Beyond
Season 2 is scheduled for January 2025, with Firewalk Studios committed to regular seasonal updates throughout Concord's first year.
Concord Gameplay Strategies: Mastering the Crew Builder
Game director Ryan Ellis suggests optimizing team composition using the "Crew Builder" system. While you can create a team of five unique Freegunners, you can also include up to three copies of a Freegunner's variants. This allows for strategic team building based on preferred playstyle and match challenges. Combining Freegunners with different roles unlocks Crew Bonuses, offering boosts to mobility, weapon recoil, cooldown times, and more.
Unlike traditional roles, Concord's Freegunners are designed for high DPS in direct combat. The six roles – Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden – are defined by their strategic impact, such as area control, utilizing long sightlines, or flanking.
