Marvel Rivals game-breaking bug punishes players with low FPS

A Reddit user uncovered a game-breaking bug in Marvel Rivals that disproportionately affects players with less powerful computers. Low FPS (frames per second) directly impacts several heroes, causing them to move slower and inflict less damage! Given Marvel Rivals' demanding PC hardware requirements, this effectively transforms the game into a pay-to-win scenario, where the "payment" isn't to the developers, but rather for upgraded PC components.

This is clearly a significant bug, not an intended game mechanic. However, a swift resolution isn't likely. The underlying cause is linked to the Delta Time parameter – a crucial element ensuring consistent game operation regardless of frame rate. Without delving into complex technicalities, fixing this Delta Time-related issue will require considerable development time.

The following Marvel Rivals heroes are currently affected:

  • Doctor Strange
  • Wolverine
  • Venom
  • Magik
  • Star-Lord

These characters exhibit reduced movement speed, lower jump heights, and decreased damage output. Other heroes may also be impacted. For now, improving your FPS, even at the cost of visual fidelity, is the recommended workaround.
