Dune: Awakening experienced a service outage earlier today, with servers offline for several hours while Funcom deployed a hotfix. This update aims to enhance server stability and resolve several issues that emerged following the game's "head start" launch on June 5.
The primary focus was on "improved server stability," though specific details were not provided. Additionally, a notification pop-up has been implemented. Now, when players click the "Private" tab within the server browser, they will receive a clear message stating that these servers are externally managed. (For a comprehensive breakdown of what renting a private server does and does not include, our guide has you covered).
As for the other adjustments? Here are the details…
Dune: Awakening June 6 Hotfix 11.0.5 Patch Notes
Resolved a problem where the menu for certain player base placeables would fail to load if players rapidly switched between tabs using the Q and E keys. Fixed an issue where the game sometimes suggested a server that was not the closest available within the player's region. Addressed a bug that could trap players in the Imperial Testing Station #002 boss room by removing the pentashield doors. Corrected a situation where NPCs in the Arrakeen social hub could occasionally become immobilized.
Funcom noted that while some of these changes are immediate, others might necessitate server downtime. Players are advised to monitor in-game service messages for updates.
We have not yet published a full review of Dune: Awakening, but we did explore the game extensively during its beta phase. "As a longtime fan of Dune, it is incredibly satisfying to explore and deepen my understanding of this cherished universe. Funcom has clearly invested significant effort into worldbuilding and lore, even while taking creative liberties by setting Awakening in a parallel reality distinct from the books and films," we noted in our IGN preview of the Dune: Awakening closed beta.
"Small details have a profound impact on gameplay. Without venturing into spoilers, this meticulous attention to detail permeates nearly every aspect of the world, including the factions and characters encountered, which will delight fans of the franchise."
For those curious about player reception, the survival MMO's official launch is still pending. However, it has already achieved a peak concurrent player count on Steam of nearly 100,000 users.
