Treyarch Unveils "The Tomb," a New Map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, in 115 Day Celebration

Treyarch's 115 Day celebration brought a flurry of announcements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, including the highly anticipated reveal of a new map: The Tomb. This sandy, mysterious location will debut with Season 2 on January 28th, following closely on the heels of Season 1's Citadelle des Morts.

The narrative continues where Citadelle des Morts left off, with Weaver, Grey, Carver, and Maya following clues left by Gabriel Krafft to an excavation site. This site, The Tomb, is described as ancient catacombs built upon burial grounds dating back to 2500 B.C.E., with secrets that run far deeper than initially imagined. The map's design is hinted to have connections to a British archaeologist, Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe.

Gameplay-wise, The Tomb promises a similar experience to Liberty Falls, focusing on tighter play spaces and high replayability, packed with Easter eggs for players to uncover. Treyarch also teased a reimagined Wonder Weapon drawing inspiration from previous titles and the return of a classic SMG.

Season 2 will also deliver significant quality-of-life improvements, including community-requested features such as tracking up to 10 Calling Card and Camo challenges across both Zombies and Multiplayer modes. A co-op pause option for Zombies is also added, along with the ability for players to rejoin Zombies matches with their loadouts if disconnected. Separate HUD presets for Zombies and Multiplayer will further enhance the player experience.

To celebrate 115 Day, players can enjoy double GobbleGum earn rates and double XP for players, weapons, and battle passes until 10 AM PT on January 21st. Treyarch also shared impressive statistics for the story-driven Directed Mode, revealing players have logged over 480 million hours in Black Ops 6 Zombies. The mode has significantly increased the average Main Quest completion rate, demonstrating its success in onboarding new players.

The upcoming release of The Tomb will also address the recent voice actor recastings for some Zombies characters, a consequence of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
