Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s Ongoing Triumph
New Game Confirmed by Studio
The remarkable success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has reshaped the future for Sandfall Interactive, a French studio now exploring new opportunities, including a confirmed upcoming game. In a May 27 interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Sandfall Interactive’s COO and Producer François Meurisse shared insights on what lies ahead for the Belle Époque-inspired turn-based RPG’s creators.
“We’re definitely working on another video game,” Meurisse confirmed. While details remain scarce, the team is enthusiastic about exploring their ideas. “I’m eager to dive deeper into the concepts we’ve already outlined for the next project,” he added.
Meurisse highlighted the team’s growth, noting that many members were juniors when the project began. “We’ve honed our collaboration skills,” he said. “Starting the next project from a stronger foundation than five years ago is exciting, though it comes with higher expectations. Guillaume, in particular, has brilliant ideas for what’s next.”
It’s uncertain whether the new project will be a sequel to Expedition 33 or an entirely new IP. Meanwhile, fans are curious about potential DLC, with Lead Writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen recently hinting at a possible expansion for the game.
3.3 Million Copies Sold in 33 Days
Expedition 33 continues to hit remarkable milestones. On May 27, Sandfall Interactive shared via Twitter (X) that the game sold 3.3 million copies in just 33 days.
The studio’s post read, “Truly, as of today, we couldn’t have imagined this. Your support has turned this into another surreal moment for us. Thank you all.” The milestone feels almost poetic, given the game’s consistent success and the symbolic numbers.
