HBO's The Last of Us Season 2 will feature previously cut content from the video game The Last of Us Part II, according to showrunner Neil Druckmann. Druckmann revealed to Entertainment Weekly that "pretty brutal" scenes, including elements from the game's "Lost Levels" (restored in the PS5 remaster), will be included. These levels, such as Jackson Party, The Hunt, and Seattle Sewers, offer a range of tones, from the relatively calm party scene and boar hunt to the intense horror of Ellie's encounter with monsters in the Seattle sewers.

The inclusion of this cut content promises a gripping viewing experience. Druckmann hinted at the appearance of a previously unshown, "pretty prominent" character, similar to how Frank was introduced in Season 1.
Season 2 introduces a significant number of new characters, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Tati Gabrielle as Mel. Catherine O'Hara's role, however, remains a mystery.
The first episode of Season 2 is slated for an April premiere. While some mysteries might be resolved quickly, others may remain unanswered for longer. Unlike Season 1, which adapted the entire first game, Part II's extensive story will span multiple seasons. Showrunner Craig Mazin stated that Season 2, comprising seven episodes, concludes with a "natural breakpoint," suggesting a Season 3 is a strong possibility, though not yet officially confirmed.
