Special Room and More Exclusively for Switch 2
During the recent Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2, a new Deltarune version was officially announced. This release will bundle Chapters 3 and 4 with several unique features designed specifically for the next-gen console.
In a Fangamer newsletter, developer Toby Fox revealed the Switch 2 edition includes a special room that utilizes the Joy-Con's mouse functionality. Fox explained, "We created a small SPECIAL ROOM that takes advantage of MOUSE CONTROLS ON TWO CONTROLLERS SIMULTANEOUSLY—something only possible on the Nintendo Switch 2!"
Although the special room remains accessible on other platforms, its control scheme will differ completely. Players can also transfer their save files from the Nintendo Switch demo of Deltarune Chapters 1 and 2 to the new version.
Deltarune Future Chapters Will Be Free
The newsletter also confirmed Deltarune's price will be $24.99. This includes Chapters 1, 2, 3, and 4. Chapter 1 originally launched in 2018, followed by Chapter 2 in 2021—both free releases. Previous announcements indicated Chapters 3-5 would require payment.
However, Fox stated all future chapters will be added as complimentary updates. Players who purchase the game will receive subsequent chapters at no additional cost. He noted, "My hope is that as we complete more chapters, you'll feel this game was an incredible value."
The game's soundtrack will be available separately on Steam for $14.99. Chapters 3 and 4 introduce over 150 new tracks, with music from future chapters also being added free of charge. Deltarune aims to deliver outstanding value by providing ongoing content without additional fees.
