Remedy Entertainment's ambition is to become a leading force in the gaming industry. Inspired by Naughty Dog, particularly their Uncharted series, Alan Wake 2 director Kyle Rowley stated their goal is to be "the European equivalent of that iconic studio."
Rowley, in a Behind The Voice podcast interview, explained how this inspiration shaped Quantum Break and subsequently, Alan Wake 2. He explicitly stated their aspiration to become the European counterpart to Naughty Dog.
This influence is clear in Alan Wake 2's cinematic presentation, lauded for its stunning visuals and compelling narrative. The game's success has firmly established Remedy as a top European developer.
However, Remedy's aspirations extend beyond the horror genre. Naughty Dog's mastery of cinematic single-player experiences, exemplified by Uncharted and The Last of Us (the latter being one of the most decorated franchises ever), serves as a benchmark.
Over a year post-launch, Alan Wake 2 continues to receive updates enhancing gameplay across all platforms. These enhancements include significant optimizations for the PS5 Pro, introducing a "Balanced" graphics mode that combines the strengths of the Performance and Quality modes.
These updates also subtly refine the graphical settings for a smoother frame rate and reduced visual noise. In addition to the PS5 Pro improvements, several minor gameplay bugs, particularly within the Lake House expansion, have been addressed.
