Bandai Namco Entertainment, the publisher behind Elden Ring, has partnered with Rebel Wolves, a Polish studio founded by former Witcher 3 developers, to publish their debut action RPG, Dawnwalker. This AAA title, slated for a 2025 release on PC, PS5, and Xbox, is a story-driven dark fantasy adventure set in a medieval European setting.
The collaboration marks a significant step for both companies. Rebel Wolves, established in 2022, aims to elevate the RPG genre with its narrative focus. Bandai Namco, recognized for its commitment to RPGs and new IPs, sees Dawnwalker as a key addition to its Western market strategy. Statements from both companies highlight a shared vision and mutual respect. Rebel Wolves' chief publishing officer emphasized the synergy between their values and Bandai Namco's experience with narrative-driven RPGs. Bandai Namco's business development VP lauded the partnership as a milestone in their content development strategy.
Dawnwalker, described as having a scope similar to The Witcher 3's Blood and Wine expansion, boasts a non-linear narrative and offers players significant choice and replayability. The game's creative direction is led by Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, a CD Projekt Red veteran and lead quest designer on The Witcher 3. Jakub Szamalek, a former CDPR writer with over nine years of experience, serves as Rebel Wolves' co-founder and narrative director, confirming Dawnwalker as a new IP. Further details about the game are promised in the coming months.
