The stress test for what might be the eighth and final major patch for Baldur's Gate III is now underway. Some Sony console players had early access to the patch, but for those who aren't eager to test it out, the developers suggest a clean reinstall of the game.

One of the standout features of Patch 8 is the introduction of crossplay, which bridges the gap between console and PC players. With a linked Larian account, you can seamlessly invite friends from different platforms to join your adventure. Even more exciting is that modded gameplay will support cross-platform play, provided that all mods used by the PC player are also available on Mac and consoles, and the host's lobby does not exceed a double-digit number of mods.

In terms of multiplayer enhancements, a much-anticipated feature is now in testing: split-screen co-op on the Xbox Series S. This lower-powered console, which previously couldn't handle split-screen play, is now getting this capability, much to the delight of its users.

Patch 8 also brings a host of other exciting updates. A new photo mode, brimming with customization options, allows players to capture their adventures in stunning detail. Additionally, 12 new subclasses have been added, enhancing the game's diversity and depth. Larian has also taken the time to address various bugs and rebalance game elements, although some issues are still being ironed out.
