The Witcher Saga Continues: Ciri Takes Center Stage in Witcher 4!
Nearly a decade after the critically acclaimed Witcher 3 captivated gamers, the first trailer for The Witcher 4 has dropped, introducing Ciri as the new protagonist. For those unfamiliar, Ciri is Geralt's adopted daughter. With Geralt's trilogy concluded, the spotlight shifts to the next generation. The teaser showcases Ciri intervening in a village gripped by a dark ritual, highlighting her heroism and hinting at a complex narrative.
While an official release date remains elusive, considering the development timelines of Witcher 3 (3.5-4 years) and Cyberpunk 2077, a 3-4 year wait for Witcher 4 seems plausible, given the early stage of production.
Platform specifics are yet to be announced, but given the anticipated release window, a current-generation console focus is likely. However, no platform exclusivity has been confirmed. We expect simultaneous releases on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. A Switch port, unlike Witcher 3, seems improbable, though a potential Switch 2 release remains a possibility.
Although gameplay details are scarce, the CGI trailer offers glimpses of familiar elements: potions, signs, and incantations. A notable addition appears to be Ciri's chain, used for both combat and magic.
Adding to the anticipation, voice actor Doug Cockle (Geralt) has confirmed Geralt's presence in the game, albeit in a supporting role, fueling speculation of a mentor-like figure.
