Freedom Wars Remastered displays each Abductor's health bar on its torso. Players utilize various weapons and items to deplete this health and defeat the Abductor. The game features diverse damage types, each with unique mechanics. While Light Melee weapons often sever body parts, Impact Damage functions similarly, playing a key role in combat strategy.
Mastering Impact Damage significantly improves Abductor takedown speed. This guide explains Impact Damage and its effective use in Freedom Wars Remastered.
What is Impact Damage in Freedom Wars Remastered?
Impact Damage is primarily found on Heavy Melee and some Ranged Weapons. While a numerical value often accompanies the Impact Damage percentage, this doesn't directly increase total damage. Instead, it's non-elemental damage boosting the power of normal attacks, thus increasing the Abductor's stagger rate. A full stagger meter causes the Abductor to stagger, providing an opening for substantial damage before recovery.
Unlike the visible health bar, the stagger meter is invisible; the Abductor staggers when the rate surpasses a threshold. This can be advantageous or detrimental. Offline play allows for charged attacks, but online, staggering might hinder teammates' attacks. Some Abductors react uniquely to staggering—Ramosa, for example, retreats, making precise hits more challenging.
Boosting Stagger Damage in Freedom Wars Remastered
Increasing Stagger Damage requires unlocking the Weapon Development Facility. This facility enables weapon crafting and customization. Use the Manufacture Modules feature to create modules using resources. The Stagger Damage Up Module needs Glassy Carbon, a common field resource in Basic Operations. Synthesise Modules combines identical modules to enhance their effectiveness. Attach the crafted module to a weapon to boost its Impact Damage and stagger capabilities.
Since Impact Damage is non-elemental, prioritizing physical damage upgrades over elemental ones maximizes stagger efficiency. Modules like Stagger Damage Up are particularly beneficial for heavy melee weapons or ranged weapons with high inherent stagger potential.
