Cookie Run: Kingdom's Version 5.6 Update: "Dark Resolution's Glorious Return" – A Mixed Bag
Cookie Run: Kingdom’s Version 5.6 update, a follow-up to Version 5.5, is packed with new content including Cookies, story episodes, limited-time events, toppings, treasures, and more. However, the update's reception has been far from universally positive.
The Good
The update introduces Dragon Lord Dark Cacao Cookie, an Ancient+ Cookie with a Charge type and front-line position. His Awakened King skill inflicts significant damage, applies a CRIT Resist debuff, and incorporates the Twin Dragons for a powerful combined attack. A special Nether-Gacha increases the odds of obtaining him, guaranteeing him after 250 pulls, and providing other rewards even before reaching that milestone.
Another addition is Peach Blossom Cookie, an Epic Support Cookie who heals allies and provides DMG Resist and Debuff Resist buffs.
The new World Exploration episode, "Dark Resolution's Glorious Return," continues Dark Cacao Cookie's story, featuring stages with Yin and Yang effects.
The Not-So-Good
The introduction of the Ancient+ rarity, a new tier above the existing ten rarities, with a maximum 6-star promotion level, has sparked considerable controversy. This decision to add a new highest rarity instead of enhancing existing Cookies has angered many players, particularly those who have invested significant resources into their existing collections.
The Backlash
The Korean Cookie Run community and whale guilds reacted strongly, threatening a boycott if the developers didn't reconsider the Ancient+ rarity. In response, the developers have postponed the update (originally scheduled for June 20th) to review the changes. An official tweet confirmed the delay.
The Future
The outcome of the developer's review remains to be seen. The controversy highlights the importance of community feedback in game development. Stay tuned for further updates on the Version 5.6 release and the fate of the Ancient+ rarity.
