Stellar Blade's 2025 PC Release Confirmed: A Look at Potential PSN Requirements
Following its PlayStation exclusive launch in April, Stellar Blade is officially coming to PC in 2025! This announcement follows earlier speculation and confirms SHIFT UP's plans for platform expansion.
The PC Port's Potential PSN Requirement
SHIFT UP's decision to bring Stellar Blade to PC in 2025 stems from the growing PC gaming market and the success of titles like Black Myth: Wukong. While a specific release date remains unannounced, the developer aims to maintain the game's popularity through various strategies. These include the upcoming November 20th release of collaborative DLC with NieR:Automata and the much-requested Photo Mode, along with continued marketing efforts.
However, a potential hurdle for PC players is the possibility of needing a PlayStation Network (PSN) account to play. As a Sony-published title and with SHIFT UP's second-party status with Sony, this linkage is a strong possibility. This would unfortunately exclude players in regions without PSN access. Sony's stated reason for this requirement centers on ensuring the secure enjoyment of its live-service games, a rationale that has sparked debate among gamers.
The Uncertain Future of PSN Linking for Stellar Blade
The requirement of a PSN account remains uncertain. Given SHIFT UP's ownership of the IP, it's possible this might not be enforced. However, a mandatory PSN link could significantly impact PC sales, potentially hindering SHIFT UP's goal of exceeding console sales.
