In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, navigating the vast battlefields swiftly is key to saving fellow officers and turning the tide of battle. While there's no direct sprint button—your character will automatically start sprinting after a few steps—using a horse can significantly boost your mobility and combat effectiveness. Horses allow you to quickly traverse the expansive maps and engage in hit-and-run tactics. Here’s how you can unlock your first horse, enhance its abilities, and switch between different steeds.
How To Unlock The First Horse In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Unlocking your first horse in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is straightforward and rewarding. During Chapter 1, after successfully completing the "Test Of Zheng Fei" battle, a merchant will appear in the overworld. You'll encounter this merchant as you travel northeast from Wan Castle but before reaching the camp, en route to the Battle Of Guangzong. Simply approach the merchant standing next to his horse and engage in conversation. He will generously gift you your first horse, which will be automatically equipped for your use.
To summon and mount your horse instantly, press down on the left joystick if you're playing on a console, or hit the V key on your keyboard.
How To Level Up Your Horse In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Leveling up your horse in Dynasty Warriors: Origins enhances its capabilities, making it a more formidable ally on the battlefield. Your horse gains XP whenever it's equipped during missions or main story battles, even if you're not actively using it. Note that your horse won't earn XP from Skirmishes. Missions, which are marked by a red diamond with a soldier icon, are the medium-length fights where your horse can earn the most XP. The amount of XP earned depends on the length of the battle and how frequently you use your horse, especially for charging into enemies. As your horse levels up, it will unlock unique buffs at regular intervals, varying with each horse.
How To Switch Horses In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Your initial horse will be automatically equipped, but as you progress, you'll have the opportunity to acquire and switch to different horses, each with unique perks and speeds. To change horses, head to the Battle Preparation menu, where you'll find the option to equip or unequip horses listed on the left side of the screen. Consider the advantages of each horse; some may offer superior speed or unique abilities.
To obtain new horses, you must elevate the peace level of a region to its maximum. Upon achieving this, a new horse will be available as a reward at a nearby waypoint.
