Understanding Agamotto's Mechanics in Marvel Snap
Agamotto is a 5-cost, 10-power card whose ability states: “Game Start: Shuffle 4 Ancient Arcana into your deck.”
The Ancient Arcana added to your deck are as follows:
Temporal Manipulation: A 1-cost card whose ability reads: “On Reveal: Give Agamotto +3 Power. Put him into your hand if he’s not in play. (Banish this.)” Wombs of Watoomb: A 2-cost card whose ability states: “On Reveal: Afflict an enemy card here with -5 Power and move it right. (Banish this.)” Bolts of Balthakk: A 3-cost card with the ability: “On Reveal: Next turn, you get +4 Energy. (Banish this.)” Images of Ikonn: A 4-cost card whose ability is: “On Reveal: Transform your other cards here into copies of the highest-Power one. (Banish this.)”
You might notice two key aspects of the Ancient Arcana: they have no Power cost and feature a new keyword, Banish.
Without a Power value, the Ancient Arcana are categorized as Skill cards rather than character cards. They are played to the board and "banished" afterward, meaning they don't enter the discard or destroy pools and cannot be returned to play.
This means you can combine the Ancient Arcana with Wong, but Odin won't trigger them. Additionally, cards like King Etri won't pull Agamotto, and Ravonna Renslayer won't reduce their cost. Mister Negative also has no effect on them.
With such varied effects from the Ancient Arcana, it's challenging to slot Agamotto into a single archetype, as his inclusion can dilute a deck and disrupt specific strategies.
Top Day One Agamotto Decks for Marvel Snap
Agamotto is expected to establish his own archetype, though that may take a week or two to develop. In my view, he fits particularly well into two deck types: Wiccan Control and Push Scream. Here's the first one:
Quicksilver Hydra Bob Hawkeye Kate Bishop Iron Patriot Sam Wilson Captain America Cassandra Nova Rocket Raccoon and Groot Copycat Galacta Wiccan Agamotto Alioth

This is a high-cost deck featuring multiple Series 5 cards. In fact, Quicksilver is the only non-Series 5 card here, so if you haven't kept up with season passes, this deck might not suit you. However, almost every card aside from Galacta, Wiccan, and Agamotto can be substituted with similar cards of the same cost.
Normally, adding Agamotto to a Wiccan deck isn't ideal since you want to draw Wiccan by turn 4. However, Bolts of Balthakk provides +4 energy the following turn, ensuring a strong finish even if you miss Wiccan.
The other Ancient Arcana synergize effectively with this deck. Temporal Manipulation pulls Agamotto from your deck early, increasing your chances of drawing other spells. Wombs of Watoomb serves as excellent disruption. Images of Ikonn duplicates your strongest card in a location, allowing you to repeat Cassandra Nova's effect, stack Wiccan's energy buff, or – the best outcome – fill the board with multiple Galactas to heavily boost the last two lanes.
Expect Cassandra Nova to see increased play, as Eson, the other card released with Agamotto, works well in Arishem decks.

Last month's leading deck, Scream Push, is another solid option for Agamotto. Let's examine it:
Hydra Bob Scream Iron Patriot Kraven Sam Wilson Captain America Spider-Man Rocket Raccoon and Groot Miles Morales Spider-Man Stegron Cannonball Agamotto

This list is also quite expensive. The Series 5 cards include: Hydra Bob, Scream, Iron Patriot, Sam Wilson, Rocket Raccoon and Groot, and Cannonball. You can replace Hydra Bob with Nightcrawler and Iron Patriot with Jeff.
While only Wombs of Watoomb directly synergizes with Agamotto, the other Ancient Arcana are valuable additions. Temporal Manipulation makes Agamotto a strong turn 6 play, especially if you used Bolts of Balthakk earlier. However, Images of Ikonn steals the show: you can duplicate multiple Screams, Spider-Mans, or Cannonballs to severely disrupt your opponent's board.
Will Agamotto improve this deck? I believe it adds unpredictability and provides an answer against decks using Luke Cage and Shadow King – so in the right matchups, yes.
Is the Prehistoric Avengers Season Pass Worth Buying?
Agamotto – if he remains un-nerfed – is on par with cards like Thanos or Arishem. He will fluctuate in the meta, creating headaches and, I predict, frustrating players with his powerful synergies. Since he's likely to define his own archetype eventually, this is definitely a card to acquire if you have the budget for the 9.99 USD price.
