Akupara Games and Tmesis Studio's latest offering, Universe for Sale, is a captivating adventure game set on a Jupiter space station. This bizarre, acid-rain-soaked bazaar is home to witty orangutans, cultists bartering flesh for enlightenment, and a woman named Lila who casually creates universes from her palm.
Is the Universe Really for Sale?
The game begins with the player controlling the Master, a skeletal cultist from the Cult of Detachment, landing in a ramshackle mining colony. Exploring this quirky town, filled with unusual shops, leads to Honin's Tea House, Lila's shop, where the central mystery unfolds. Gameplay alternates between Lila's perspective, where players create universes in a mesmerizing mini-game, and the Master's journey, which delves into the philosophies of the Cult of Detachment and encounters with the Church of Many Gods.
The narrative gradually reveals itself, prompting players to theorize about the unfolding events. Each character, be it human, skeletal, or robotic, possesses a unique story, enriching the detailed world.
Stunning Hand-Drawn Art
Universe for Sale's hand-drawn art style is a major draw, creating a dreamlike atmosphere. From the rain-lashed streets to the vibrant, self-made universes, every scene is vividly rendered. The game is available on the Google Play Store.
