Our testing unit came well-calibrated, ensuring stunning, true-to-life colors straight out of the box. Given its ultrawide format for extra screen real estate, the resolution is a bit unconventional at 3,440 x 1,440. Yet, this 34-inch display sits between 1440p and 4K, offering sharp details and solid picture quality. That resolution, coupled with the 1800R curvature, wraps around your field of view without distortion, creating an immersive gaming experience.

The Alienware AW3423DW features a speedy 175Hz refresh rate, provided your GPU can handle it. Even if you can't consistently reach 175 fps, this monitor supports G-Sync Ultimate to eliminate screen tearing. The 0.1 ms GtG response time is also exceptionally fast, making this display perfect for competitive esports players.

The biggest disappointment is its I/O panel. Despite offering multiple USBs, HDMIs, and a DisplayPort, it only supports HDMI 2.0, limiting console gaming to 60Hz rather than the 120Hz current-gen consoles are capable of. Still, it remains a worthwhile Alienware gaming monitor.

For under $300, you get a gaming monitor with blacks as close to OLED as possible on an IPS panel. It also boasts a peak HDR brightness of around 1,000 nits for full-screen whites and well over 1,000 nits for highlights, perfect for HDR, and uses quantum dots for enhanced color coverage, ideal for creators.

Its mini-LED backlight with 1,152 local dimming zones performs alongside monitors twice its price. Blooming is present but reduced, and the blacks are deep while the highlights and colors pop. It's remarkably close to OLED without the usual risks.

To achieve its low price, it lacks extra features like a USB hub or KVM and has few gaming options in its OSD. For the utmost color accuracy, calibration with a colorimeter is recommended. Despite these minor limitations, it's an absolute steal.

When choosing the perfect OLED monitor, consider the size you need. OLED monitors range from compact 24-inch models to massive 55-inch options. Consider your desk space and intended use. Graphic designers or video editors might prefer larger, higher-resolution screens like 4K for detailed images, while gamers might prioritize refresh rates and response times over size.
