Tekken 8 Boss Says He's Tried To Reach Waffle House For a Crossover, To No Avail

For some time now, Tekken fans have been requesting a Waffle House stage—not in real life, but in-game. While it seems Tekken 8’s director might be teasing the idea, Waffle House hasn’t responded.

On X/Twitter, Tekken game director Katsuhiro Harada replied to fans persistently asking for a Waffle House stage in Tekken 8. This request has gained momentum, especially since Harada himself has shown interest in exploring it.

Harada said he “fully understands” the fans’ requests—so much so that he’s already explored ways to make it happen.

Play"Over the past year or more, I've actually tried to make contact through several different channels," said Harada on X/Twitter. "However, and this is purely my own speculation, I suspect that the lack of response may be due to the fact that the project I'm known for revolves around 'fighting-themed video games.'"

To be honest, within the bounds of what I can say, I fully understand your (you guys) request—that's precisely why I had considered taking on this challenge. In fact, I had already been thinking about it quite a while ago.

Harada noted that “no response” is unusually rare. He also mentioned that if a different name or format is acceptable—as long as the core idea remains intact—he’d be open to revisiting the proposal.

So, Kazuya and Jin won’t be settling their family feud under the yellow glow of a Waffle House sign just yet. But a parody version—or an in-universe stand-in—could still happen. Harada once suggested “Hustle House” in another post, which isn’t a bad alternative.

Tekken 8 is now rolling out Patch 2.01, following the official confirmation that Fahkumram is joining the Tekken 8 roster. Back in April, Harada addressed fan concerns about Tekken 8’s Season 2, saying the balancing team is working “around the clock” to review feedback and refine future updates.
