Take-Two Announces Sales Figures for GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2

Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA 5) continues to dominate the gaming market, selling an impressive 5 million copies in the last three months alone, despite being over a decade old. Since its launch in September 2013, GTA 5 has cemented its place as one of the best-selling video games of all time. The enduring popularity of GTA 5 can be attributed to its engaging gameplay and the ever-evolving GTA Online, the game's multiplayer mode. Take-Two, the parent company, keeps the community engaged with regular updates, including the recent Agents of Sabotage released in December 2024.

Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) is also experiencing a surge in sales, reaching a total of 70 million copies sold, with an increase of 3 million units in the last quarter. Released in October 2018, RDR2's immersive world and compelling narrative continue to attract new players.

Looking ahead, gaming enthusiasts have much to look forward to. Take-Two has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) is slated for release in the fall of 2025. Additionally, Mafia: The Old Country is expected to hit the shelves in the summer, and Borderlands 4 is set to launch later in the year. While specific release dates for Borderlands 4 have not yet been announced, anticipation is building.

For those worried about potential delays with GTA 6, rest assured that the game remains on track for its autumn 2025 release, as mentioned in Take-Two's latest financial presentation. Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, emphasized Rockstar's meticulous approach to development, hinting at possible adjustments in the timeline, similar to what occurred with GTA 5 and RDR2. However, the commitment to a fall release stands firm, providing fans with a clear timeline to look forward to.
