Hello fellow gamers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 28th, 2024! Yesterday's presentation was packed with exciting announcements, including several surprise releases. This means our typically quiet Wednesday is anything but, and that's great news for us! We've got news, a look at today's eShop additions, and our usual sales lists. Let's dive in!

News

Partner/Indie World Showcase Delivers a Bounty of Games

Nintendo's decision to combine two smaller showcases proved clever, resulting in a flurry of announcements. While a complete rundown is impossible here, highlights include several surprise releases (detailed below), Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the Suikoden I & II remasters, Yakuza Kiwami, Tetris Forever, MySims, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, new Atelier and Rune Factory titles, and much more. I strongly recommend watching the full video; it's well worth your time.

Select New Releases

Castlevania Dominus Collection ($24.99)

A third Castlevania collection joins the fray, courtesy of a surprise Direct announcement. This one features the three Nintendo DS titles: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. It also includes the infamous arcade game, Haunted Castle, and a much-improved M2 remake. M2's masterful emulation and inclusion of desirable features make this an exceptional value.

Pizza Tower ($19.99)

This Wario Land-inspired platformer sprints onto the Switch as another surprise release. Conquer the five massive floors of the Pizza Tower to save your restaurant. Fans of Wario's handheld adventures will find this irresistible, but even casual platforming enthusiasts should give it a try. A review is planned, time permitting.

Goat Simulator 3 ($29.99)

The surprise releases keep coming! It's Wednesday, and these unexpected drops are keeping things interesting. Goat Simulator 3 needs little introduction. While performance on the Switch remains unconfirmed, keep in mind that more powerful systems have experienced occasional hiccups. Proceed with caution, but even if it runs poorly, the game's chaotic nature might make it all the more amusing. Ultimately, the decision is yours. Prepare for silly goats, silly antics, and potential Switch overheating.

Peglin ($19.99)

While it feels like a missed opportunity that EA hasn't brought PopCap games to Switch, Peglin scratches that Peggle itch perfectly. Already a mobile hit, this turn-based RPG roguelite expertly blends the charm of Peggle with addictive gameplay. A full review is coming soon.

Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story ($20.00)

Kairosoft adds a fresh twist to its shop simulation formula with the Doraemon license. Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story delivers a standard Kairosoft experience, enhanced by the beloved Doraemon characters and even some cameos from the creator's other works. A charming and worthwhile addition.

Pico Park 2 ($8.99)

More Pico Park for existing fans! Up to eight players can join in locally or online. The more, the merrier philosophy is perfectly embodied here. Solve cooperative puzzle stages requiring teamwork and clever thinking. A great option for those who enjoyed the first game, but not drastically different enough to attract newcomers.

Kamitsubaki City Ensemble ($3.99)

An affordable rhythm game featuring Kamitsubaki Studio's music. Simple, enjoyable, and perfect for its price point.

SokoPenguin ($4.99)

A classic Sokoban-style puzzler with a penguin twist. One hundred levels of crate-pushing fun.

Q2 Humanity ($6.80)

Over three hundred quirky physics-based puzzles. Utilize your character's abilities and drawing mechanics to solve problems. Local and online multiplayer for up to four players.
