Authore: PeytonUpdate:May 29,2025

If you've caught a recent screening of A Minecraft Movie, you'll recall Jack Black's delightful rendition of the Lava Chicken song, a highlight that occurs midway through the film. As Steve, Black performs this catchy tune while Jason Momoa and others watch a chicken succumb to cooking lava. Clocking in at just 34 seconds, it's surprisingly become a viral sensation across social media platforms.

This brief yet memorable track has now reached No. 21 on the UK's official music chart, marking its place as the shortest song ever to achieve such recognition. According to ERA, the UK's digital entertainment and retail association, streaming and virality continue to redefine what constitutes a hit.

Jack Black is no novice when it comes to creating viral video game-themed music. His earlier contribution to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, titled "Peaches," became the first song from his solo career to appear on the Billboard Hot 100. Previously, he entered the charts at No. 78 in 2006 with "The Pick of Destiny" as part of Tenacious D.

Other short songs to grace the charts include the 2007 Simpsons Movie track "Spider Pig" (64 seconds) and Liam Lynch’s 2002 punk anthem "United States of Whatever" (86 seconds).

The Lava Chicken moment isn’t the only viral element from A Minecraft Movie. Footage of enthusiastic moviegoers sharing their reactions—including some bringing live chickens to screenings—has taken off on platforms like TikTok.
