Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles Reveals Another New Character

Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles Adds Playable Jar Jar Binks and More!

Aspyr has unveiled a surprising playable character for the upcoming release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles on modern consoles: Jar Jar Binks! A new trailer showcases the Gungan wielding a large staff in action-packed gameplay.

This isn't the only new addition to the already diverse roster of playable characters. Aspyr has revealed nine other new characters, with more to come, promising a significantly expanded experience for fans of the original 2000 release.

The updated Jedi Power Battles aims to recapture the nostalgia of the original while adding modern enhancements. Features like customizable lightsaber colors and cheat code support are included, alongside this exciting roster expansion.

The recently released trailer highlights Jar Jar's gameplay, showing the clumsy character using a staff rather than a lightsaber (disappointing some fans' Darth Jar Jar hopes), and featuring his signature chaotic dialogue. Jar Jar Binks will be playable upon launch on January 23rd, with pre-orders available now.

Newly Revealed Playable Characters:

  • Jar Jar Binks
  • Rodian
  • Flame Droid
  • Gungan Guard
  • Destroyer Droid
  • Ishi Tib
  • Rifle Droid
  • Staff Tusken Raider
  • Weequay
  • Mercenary

Aspyr's commitment to expanding the character roster is evident, with a diverse range of additions including droids (Flame, Destroyer, and Rifle Droids), familiar faces like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian, and even more Gungans beyond Jar Jar. Several more characters are expected to be announced before launch.

With the release date just weeks away, fans eagerly anticipate experiencing these new additions to Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles. Aspyr's past work on re-releasing classic Star Wars titles, such as Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, suggests a hopeful precedent for a well-executed and nostalgic update.
