Stardew Valley offers a rich tapestry of activities for players, from farming and mining to fishing. Yet, another fascinating aspect of the game is crafting your own provisions and preserves. Here’s a detailed guide on how to create Spice Berry Jelly in Stardew Valley.
How to Get the Preserves Jar in Stardew Valley
The Preserves Jar is an essential tool for transforming fruits into delightful preserves like Pickles, Caviar, Aged Roe, and Jelly. You can obtain this item as a reward for completing the Quality Crops Bundle at the Community Centre or by reaching Farming level 4.
Jelly can be crafted from either cultivated or foraged fruit. During the Summer, with the Preserves Jar in your possession, you can make Spice Berry Jelly. Spice Berries are obtainable in the Farm Cave throughout any season or can be grown in the Greenhouse using Summer Seeds.
To unlock the Preserves Jar through the Community Centre, you need to submit three out of four “gold quality” crops: pumpkins, melons, corn, and parsnips. You'll need to provide five fruits or vegetables for each of the three chosen crops. For instance, you could submit 5 Corn, 5 Pumpkins, and 5 Parsnips, all marked with the coveted “gold quality” star.
Once you have unlocked the Preserves Jar, crafting Spice Berry Jelly becomes a simple task.

How to Make Spice Berry Jelly in Stardew Valley
To craft Spice Berry Jelly, follow these steps:
- Gather Spice Berries: Search for these during the Summer season while exploring outdoors or visit the Farm Cave any time of the year. You can also use a Spice Berry in a Seed Maker to produce Summer Seeds for replanting.
- Build a Preserves Jar: Once unlocked, crafting the jar requires 50 Wood, 40 Stone, and 8 Coal. Completing the Quality Crops Bundle also grants you one Preserves Jar as a reward.
- Creating the Jelly: Place a Spice Berry into the Preserves Jar. The transformation process takes approximately two to three in-game days (or 54 hours). For optimal efficiency, initiate the process before periods of inactivity on your farm, such as during sleep or mining sessions. You'll notice the Preserves Jar "pulsing" as the Jelly is being made.
- Collect Your Jelly: Once the process is complete, the Spice Berry Jelly icon will appear above the Preserves Jar, ready for you to collect. You can then consume the Jelly to restore energy during your farming activities or sell it for 160 gold.
Crafting Jelly in Stardew Valley not only adds another skill to your farming repertoire but also enhances your farm's profitability and contributes to the game’s immersive world.
