Silksong Dev Sparks Switch 2 Rumors with Cake Image

Authore: LaylaUpdate:May 02,2025

It's been six years since Team Cherry announced *Hollow Knight: Silksong*, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2017 Metroidvania masterpiece, *Hollow Knight*. Throughout this period, fans have eagerly awaited updates, with *Silksong* appearing and disappearing from various gaming events. At one point, Microsoft even hinted at a release before June 2023, but The Game Awards came and went without any news. Now, with the recent announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, fans are buzzing with excitement and speculation. Could this finally be the moment we've been waiting for?

The excitement stems from a seemingly innocuous image of a cake. Here’s how it unfolded:

Eagle-eyed fans on the Hollow Knight subreddit noticed that on January 15, Team Cherry co-director William Pellen changed his Twitter/X profile picture to a photo of a chocolate cake. Pellen tweeted, “something big is coming. keep your eyes closed tomorrow.”

Coincidentally, January 16 was the day Nintendo officially revealed the Switch 2. With this timing, fans speculated that Pellen’s tweet hinted at the Switch 2 reveal. But why a cake?

The Hollow Knight community dove deep into this mystery. Fans reverse-searched the cake image, leading them to a Brooklyn Blackout Cake recipe on Bon Appétit, published on April 2, 2024. This date caught their attention because Nintendo has scheduled the Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 for Wednesday, April 2, 2025. Fans now believe Pellen might have initiated an alternate reality game (ARG) for *Silksong* with his tweet and the cake picture.

The speculation doesn’t stop there. Fans are also deciphering Pellen’s new Twitter/X handle, @everydruidwaswr. Redditor Representative-True suggests that the handle, which is exactly 15 characters long, might hint at something significant. They propose that “wr” could be the start of a word like “wrong,” and connect it to the Druid of the Moss Temple, a character from *Silksong*.

Adding another layer of intrigue, Pellen’s new Twitter/X name is “little bomey.” Fans have noticed that Little Boomey is a wine from Southern Australia, where Team Cherry is based, though the spelling differs slightly. What could this mean?

When *Hollow Knight: Silksong* was first announced, Team Cherry confirmed launch platforms as Windows, Mac, Linux, and Nintendo Switch. However, that was six years ago. Could Nintendo have secured *Silksong* as a Switch 2 launch title? Is it a timed exclusive? Or is this all just wild speculation from fans desperate for any news?

We’ll have to wait a few more months to find out. In the meantime, don’t miss out on everything announced at Nintendo's Switch 2 reveal.
