Bloober Team, the studio behind the acclaimed Silent Hill 2 Remake, recently revealed an intriguing concept: a Lord of the Rings survival horror game. While the project never progressed beyond the concept stage due to licensing issues, the idea of a grim, Middle-earth-set horror game captivated fans and developers alike.

Game director Mateusz Lenart, in a recent Bonfire Conversations podcast, shared the studio's vision. They imagined a terrifying survival horror experience, delving into the darker, unexplored corners of Tolkien's world. The rich lore and dark narratives within Tolkien's works provided ample material for a truly chilling atmosphere, leading many to believe the potential was immense.

However, securing the necessary rights proved insurmountable. Currently, Bloober Team's focus is on their new title, Cronos: The New Dawn, and potential future collaborations with Konami on Silent Hill projects. Whether they will revisit the Lord of the Rings horror concept remains uncertain, but the prospect of encountering terrifying Nazgûl or Gollum in a survival horror setting continues to intrigue fans.
