Nvidia's GeForce RTX 5090: A Deep Dive into Leaked Specs and Expected Performance

Nvidia is poised to unveil its next-generation graphics card lineup, the RTX 50 series (codenamed Blackwell), at CES 2025. Leaks suggest the flagship RTX 5090 will be a powerhouse, boasting impressive specifications but potentially demanding a premium price.

Key features anticipated for the RTX 5090 include:

  • Massive Memory: A substantial 32GB of GDDR7 video memory – double that of the expected RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti.
  • High Power Consumption: A significant 575W power draw, necessitating a high-capacity power supply.
  • Advanced Features: Leveraging Nvidia's Tensor Cores for AI processing, alongside DLSS upscaling, ray tracing, and PCIe 5.0 support (on compatible motherboards).

These details, initially reported by VideoCardz and showcased by Inno3D's iChill X3 RTX 5090 (a three-fan model), paint a picture of a high-performance card. The Inno3D variant's packaging confirmed the 32GB GDDR7 memory and the substantial 575W power requirement, a notable increase over the RTX 4090's 450W. The RTX 50 series will utilize a 16-pin power connector, though adapters will be available.

While the RTX 5090's performance is expected to be exceptional, its price is anticipated to reflect this. Estimates suggest an MSRP starting at $1,999 or higher. Nvidia has yet to confirm pricing.

The entire RTX 50 series, including the RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti, will be officially revealed during Nvidia's CES keynote on January 6th. The launch will mark a significant step forward in graphics technology, pitting Nvidia against AMD's Radeon RX 9000 series and Intel's Battlemage GPUs. The market response to these new cards will be closely watched.
