Pocketpair's Palworld, renowned for its expansive open-world exploration, continues to captivate players since its January 2024 launch. The Feybreak DLC significantly expanded the game's crafting system, introducing numerous materials, including the valuable Dark Fragments. These fragments are crucial for crafting high-tier equipment, making their acquisition a priority for players exploring Feybreak.
How to Obtain Dark Fragments in Palworld
Dark Fragments are exclusively obtained from Dark-elemental Pals found on Feybreak Island. This method doesn't apply to Dark-elemental Pals in other game regions. Coastal areas of Feybreak primarily feature ground and water-type Pals; venturing inland is necessary to locate Dark-elemental Pals. Note that some Pals, like Starryon, are only found at night (unless they are boss variants).
Capturing or defeating these Pals (using Ultimate or Exotic Spheres is recommended) yields 1-3 Dark Fragments per encounter. However, drops aren't guaranteed. Efficiently hunting Dark Pals is key to accumulating a sufficient supply.

While less reliable, single Dark Fragments can sometimes be found randomly scattered across Feybreak. Thorough exploration is therefore recommended.
Utilizing Dark Fragments in Palworld
Despite the challenge in acquiring them, Dark Fragments have a specific use within Palworld. They are primarily used in crafting specialized saddles, accessories for certain Pals, and enhanced boots for the player character.
The following items require Dark Fragments. Remember that schematics must be unlocked using Technology Points (or Ancient Technology Points) via the Technology Menu (or Ancient Technology Menu), and the necessary machines must be built.
