The gaming world is abuzz with excitement as developers and reporters at Gamescom 2024 shared tantalizing details about the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 Pro. Dive into the latest on the PS5 Pro, its potential specs, and the discussions that have everyone talking.

Throughout 2024, fan theories about the PlayStation 5 Pro have been fueled by a series of alleged leaks. However, the excitement reached new heights at Gamescom 2024, where developers openly discussed the upcoming console. Some developers have even adjusted their game release schedules to coincide with the PS5 Pro's launch, as reported by Alessio Palumbo of Wccftech.

Palumbo shared an intriguing insight: "Without even being prodded by me, a developer who preferred to remain anonymous mentioned they had received the specs for the PS5 Pro and were confident that Unreal Engine 5 would perform significantly better on the new hardware compared to the regular PlayStation 5."

This revelation aligns with a report from the Italian gaming site Multiplayer, which mentioned in a live stream that a developer had postponed their game’s release to match the rumored PS5 Pro launch. Palumbo further noted, "Considering the information shared by Multiplayer, I'm confident this isn't the same developer. Additionally, the studio I spoke with isn't a major one, suggesting that a wide range of game developers already have access to the PS5 Pro's specifications."

PS5 Pro Releasing Soon, Analyst Says

Adding credibility to Palumbo’s observations and the insights from developers at Gamescom 2024, analyst William R. Aguilar hinted on X in July that Sony is likely to announce the PS5 Pro later this year. Aguilar speculated that this announcement might occur during the unconfirmed State of Play in September 2024, suggesting that Sony will need to act soon to avoid impacting sales of the current PS5.

This timeline mirrors the PlayStation 4 Pro’s release strategy in 2016, where the console was announced on September 7 and released just two months later on November 10. Palumbo pointed out that if Sony follows a similar pattern, "it is reasonable to assume an official announcement is near."
