Sony Hikes PS5 Price in Europe, Australia, New Zealand

Authore: PatrickUpdate:Jan 07,2026

Sony is increasing the recommended retail prices of PlayStation 5 consoles in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. The company attributes this adjustment to a challenging economic climate, marked by high inflation and volatile currency exchange rates.

The price adjustments were officially announced in a post on the PlayStation Blog.

New PS5 Recommended Retail Prices (effective April 14)
Europe
PS5 Digital Edition – €500 (Price unchanged for the standard PS5 with disc drive)
United Kingdom
PS5 Digital Edition – £430 (Price unchanged for the standard PS5 with disc drive)
Australia
Standard PS5 with disc drive – AUD $830, PS5 Digital Edition – AUD $750
New Zealand
Standard PS5 with disc drive – NZD $950, PS5 Digital Edition – NZD $860

The price of the PS5 Pro model remains the same.

Following similar price increases implemented in 2022, the PS5 is now significantly more expensive in many regions compared to its original launch price.

In Europe and the UK, the PS5 Digital Edition now costs €100/£70 more than it did at launch (previously €400/£360). In Australia, the standard PS5 is AUD $80 higher than its launch price (previously AUD $750), while the digital edition has increased by AUD $150 (from AUD $600). In New Zealand, the standard PS5 is now NZD $130 more expensive than its launch price (previously NZD $820), and the digital version has gone up by NZD $210 (from NZD $650).

Conversely, the recommended retail price of the PS5 disc drive accessory is being reduced to €80/£70/AUD $125/NZD $140.
