DC Studios boss James Gunn has exciting news for fans, confirming that Peacemaker Season 2 will premiere on Max on August 21. Alongside this announcement, Gunn shared a brief snippet of new footage featuring John Cena in action, showcasing his character's evolution as he's now referred to as "a superhero."
In a tweet, Gunn expressed his enthusiasm, describing the Season 2 premiere as "one of my favorite things ever." The new footage captures Cena's Peacemaker smirking at the camera amidst a fiery backdrop, hinting at the high-octane action fans can expect.

Peacemaker Season 2 follows the release of Superman on July 11, marking the beginning of Gunn's rebooted DC Universe (DCU). It will be the third entry in this new universe, following last year's Creature Commandos TV series and the upcoming Superman film this summer.
Gunn's revamped cinematic universe, developed alongside co-CEO Peter Safran, distances itself from the criticized DC Extended Universe (DCEU), which included films like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel. Despite this shift, some elements from the old universe will persist, with Peacemaker serving as a prime example. While Season 1 was part of the DCEU, Season 2 will be integrated into the new DCU.
Gunn has emphasized continuity in Peacemaker's narrative, stating that **"many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes."** Although the specifics of what will transition from the DCEU to the DCU remain uncertain, Gunn confirmed that the entire Team Peacemaker will return with the same actors. This includes **John Cena** reprising his lead role, alongside **Frank Grillo** as Rick Flag Sr., **Freddie Stroma** as Adrian Chase, and **Danielle Brooks** as Leota Adebayo.Furthermore, Gunn has noted that Peacemaker Season 2 will be set after the events of both Creature Commandos and Superman, with the latter's events directly impacting Peacemaker's storyline.
