Owlcat Games Embarks on Publishing Venture

Focusing on Narrative-Rich Game Experiences

Pathfinder Devs Owlcat Games Become PublishersOn August 13th, Owlcat Games, renowned for its acclaimed cRPGs like Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous and Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader (following their acquisition of META Publishing in 2021), announced its foray into game publishing. This strategic move reflects Owlcat's commitment to enriching the gaming landscape by fostering innovative storytelling. The studio aims to provide developers of narrative-focused games with the resources and support they need to succeed.

Owlcat's decision to become a publisher stems from a desire to broaden its influence beyond its own game development. The company seeks collaborations with studios that share its passion for compelling narratives, offering them the tools and expertise to realize their creative visions.

New Games on the Horizon

Owlcat Games has already partnered with two promising development teams. These collaborations will add to Owlcat's portfolio of narrative-driven games, aligning with the studio's core design philosophy.

Emotion Spark Studio (Serbia) is developing Rue Valley, a narrative RPG centered around a protagonist trapped in a time loop within a remote town. The game explores themes of mental health and personal growth as the character unravels the mystery of the time loop. Owlcat's partnership will focus on enhancing the game's narrative and player engagement.

Another Angle Games (Poland) is creating Shadow of the Road, an isometric RPG set in an alternate feudal Japan, blending samurai culture, honor, and allegiance with tactical turn-based combat. Players will navigate a world infused with yokai and steampunk elements. Owlcat's support will aid in the game's development and successful launch.

Both Rue Valley and Shadow of the Road are in early development, with more details expected later this month. Owlcat plans to regularly update fans on the progress of these exciting projects, offering glimpses into the unique worlds and stories they're creating.

Owlcat's transition to publishing represents a significant step, aiming to cultivate diverse storytelling in games and contribute to the growth of the industry. This initiative will not only highlight emerging talent but also expand the range of compelling narrative-driven games available to players globally.
