Capcom Unveils Onimusha: Way of the Sword Gameplay Featuring Miyamoto Musashi
Capcom has treated fans to a fresh look at its upcoming action title, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, slated for release in 2026. The new gameplay trailer, showcased during the PlayStation State of Play, reveals the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi as the game's protagonist.
The trailer highlights the game's dynamic sword combat and imposing enemies. While still over two years away, Onimusha: Way of the Sword promises thrilling action. Musashi's portrayal blends impressive swordsmanship with a charismatic, even comedic, personality.
Capcom describes the game as a dark fantasy action adventure featuring one of Japan's most celebrated historical figures. Musashi's likeness is reportedly based on the legendary Toshiro Mifune, a renowned actor known for his samurai roles.
The game's setting is a demon-infested Kyoto, overrun by the malevolent force known as Malic, which is summoning hellish creatures into Japan. This marks the first new entry in the Onimusha franchise in two decades. To bridge the gap, Capcom also announced a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, launching May 23, 2025.
