Fresh off the heels of the December 2024 release of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered, Crystal Dynamics has announced two new ventures for the beloved franchise. Partnering with the creative minds at Lost In Cult and the Dutch art dealership Cook and Becker, they aim to enrich the lore of Nosgoth with these passion projects."We’re incredibly excited to be diving back into the world of Nosgoth with these two passion projects," said Ryan Brown of Lost In Cult.
The first project, The Book of Nosgoth, is an official encyclopedia penned by Nic Reuben of Rock Paper Shotgun. This comprehensive guide will delve deep into Nosgoth’s gothic universe, covering its locations, factions, and inhabitants. A detailed timeline will also explore the epic rivalry between Kain and Raziel, providing fans with a rich narrative experience.
Beyond the lore, The Book of Nosgoth will offer behind-the-scenes insights into the development of the Legacy of Kain series. It will feature original concept art, sketches, maps, and exclusive interviews with the developers, giving fans a closer look at the creation of all five Legacy of Kain titles.
An Official Legacy of Kain TTRPG Will Also Be Releasing Soon
The second project, Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan, introduces a TTRPG set in Nosgoth during the Sarafan Order’s crusade against the vampiric scourge. Using the acclaimed MÖRK BORG ruleset, this game promises a mechanics-light yet high-stakes gameplay experience where players take on the roles of warrior priests from the Sarafan Order.
With six playable classes, unique weapons and spells, an official bestiary of nocturnal horrors, and the expansive landscape of Nosgoth, Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan offers players the chance to craft their own adventures.
