Nintendo's Alarmo: Wider Release and Enhanced Features
Nintendo's innovative alarm clock, Alarmo, is slated for a broader retail launch in March 2025, as announced via their Twitter (X) account. Initially requiring a Nintendo Online subscription, this limitation will be removed, making Alarmo accessible to all. The device, priced at $99.99 USD, will be available at major retailers such as Target, Walmart, GameStop, and other authorized vendors.
The excitement surrounding Alarmo's release has been significant, even overshadowing anticipation for the rumored Switch 2. The initial release saw immediate success, leading to sell-outs and a lottery system in Japan to manage demand. New York City retailers also experienced rapid depletion of stock.
Alarmo's popularity stems from its unique features. The alarm clock incorporates charming sound effects and visuals from popular Nintendo franchises including Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Splatoon 3. Users can select from 42 game-themed scenes, with more promised via free updates.
The alarm experience is interactive. A game character appears on screen, and upon triggering the alarm, engages in playful animations and sounds. A "visitor" then appears, prompting the user to get out of bed. Persistent slumber results in a more insistent alarm. The motion sensor allows for silencing the alarm without touching the device.
Beyond its core functionality, Alarmo offers hourly chimes, sleep sounds, and sleep pattern tracking. For users sharing a bed with others or pets, a "Button Mode" is available.
