Nintendo's Latest Announcement: A LEGO Game Boy!
Nintendo and LEGO have teamed up again, this time producing a LEGO Game Boy set! Launching October 2025, this follows the successful LEGO NES release.
While exciting news for fans, the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) sparked a flurry of comments about the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. Many joked that this LEGO Game Boy was a premature console reveal, highlighting the ongoing anticipation for the Switch successor.
Although details on the Switch 2 remain scarce, Nintendo President Furukawa confirmed in May 2024 that an announcement would be made within the current fiscal year (ending March).
Pricing for the LEGO Game Boy is yet to be revealed, but further information is expected soon.
Past LEGO/Nintendo Collaborations
Beyond the NES, Nintendo and LEGO have previously collaborated on sets featuring iconic characters from Super Mario, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda.
A notable example is the May 2024 release of a 2,500-piece LEGO set depicting the Great Deku Tree from Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild. This set, priced at $299.99 USD, includes Princess Zelda and the Master Sword.
Following this, a Super Mario World LEGO set featuring Mario riding Yoshi was released. This unique set uses a crank mechanism to animate Yoshi's leg movement, priced at $129.99 USD.
