Get ready for round two! A first look at Karl Urban as Johnny Cage in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 has been revealed.

Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon unveiled a poster featuring Urban (known for The Boys and Judge Dredd) as the iconic Hollywood actor and Kombatant. The poster cleverly mimics a fictional Johnny Cage film, complete with the over-the-top action you'd expect – motorcycles leaping from flames!

Mortal Kombat 2 serves as a direct sequel to the 2021 reboot, starring Lewis Tan, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Joe Taslim. Joining the cast are Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, and Damon Herriman as Quan Chi.

While plot details remain under wraps, the vast lore of the Mortal Kombat video game series provides ample material for the sequel. The first film focused on Cole Young's introduction to the Mortal Kombat universe and the rivalry between Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

Initially planned for a theatrical release, the first Mortal Kombat film premiered on HBO Max due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Mortal Kombat 2 is set for a theatrical debut on October 24, 2025.

Our review of the first film awarded it a 7, praising its "spectacular display of blood, guts, and effects-heavy martial arts battles.”
