Monster Hunter Wilds: Forbidden Lands' Top Foods

Capcom recently unveiled comprehensive player data analytics for Monster Hunter Wilds through its "The Forbidden Lands White Paper 1" report in Japanese. This study, examining post-April 4 update gameplay patterns, discovered pronounced player preferences regarding in-game culinary choices.

The April 4 update introduced not only fresh quests and creatures but also established the Grand Hub—a social space featuring regional eateries where Hunters can redeem Meal Vouchers. These culinary boosts provide valuable combat enhancements, streamlining preparation before embarking on cooperative hunts. Players obtain Meal Vouchers through daily rewards or Arena challenges.

Automaton Japan's analysis of the report highlights dramatic disparities in regional cuisine popularity. Spring Kunafa dominated with 87.8% voucher redemption, eclipsing Fresh Sild (8.2%), Colorful Suja (3.5%), and Hot Azuz (0.5%).

The Spring Kunafa's prevalence stems from Capcom's initial distribution of five complimentary vouchers during the update. Hunters particularly valued its Defender Meal (Hi) buff—a crucial defense boost during high-difficulty encounters.

Unequal voucher distribution explains why other cuisines trail significantly. However, the Pick-a-Meal Voucher system revealed authentic player preferences: Hot Azuz led with 41.3%, followed by Colorful Suja (28.3%), Spring Kunafa (19%), and Fresh Sild (12%).

The Hot Azuz preference correlates with its Tumbler Meal (Hi) evasion boost—essential for bow users building their Trick Arrow Gauge. Colorful Suja's popularity stems from its dual offensive advantages: random attack surges (Caprice Meal Hi) and enhanced loot rewards (Exploiter Meal), complemented by visually impressive sushi feast animations.

While buffs primarily drive culinary selections, players humorously noted Fresh Sild's unpopularity—likely due to its simplistic presentation featuring unripe produce, contrasting sharply with other regions' lavish feasts. Spring Kunafa's cinematic spreads previously generated such appetite that Japanese Nepalese restaurants experienced cheese naan shortages.

The report establishes a fascinating precedent for tracking virtual consumption patterns. With Capcom's May 28 update—featuring Street Fighter's Akuma—future white papers may reveal evolving culinary trends among Monster Hunter Wilds players.
