For a quick overview, you can scroll through the items listed above. However, if you're interested in the details of each box, continue reading for an in-depth look.

Core Boxes

The core boxes for Monster Hunter World: The Board Game are standalone games that include four hunters and four monsters. These boxes can be combined, allowing players to mix and match hunters and monsters across different sets. While most components are unique to each box, there are some shared elements, including cards that are used when combining sets.

For beginners, starting with a single core box is advisable. As you become more invested in the game, consider adding smaller expansions before purchasing a second core set. Both core sets offer the same high-quality gameplay and components, featuring impressive monster miniatures that enhance the sense of scale. Choose the set that resonates with you aesthetically or connects with your favorite elements from the video game series.

This set is set in a primeval forest, with lush green and brown game boards. The monsters are inspired by dinosaurs and tropical animals, including the Great Jagras, Tobi-Kadachi, Anjanath, and Rathalos. The hunters use classic weapons such as the Great Sword, Sword and Shield, Dual Blades, and Bow.

This box transports players to a badlands setting, featuring a mix of rocky outcrops, desert, and swamp. The monsters include the armored Barroth, the swamp-fish Jyurados, the bird-like Pukei-Pukei, and the underground behemoth Diablos. The hunters wield more unique weapons like the Charge Blade, Switch Axe, Heavy Bowgun, and Insect Glaive.

Retail Expansions

Kickstarter campaigns for the game introduced numerous expansions, many of which are still available at retail. However, the Nergigante and Teostra expansions are harder to find, with Teostra being exclusive to Steamforged Games.

Nergigante, Kushala Daora, and Teostra are Elder Dragons, adding new challenges and quests to the base game. These expansions introduce a higher five-star difficulty level and larger miniatures, providing an epic boss battle experience. However, these expansions can be costly, and some content is specific to one core box or the other.
