Metaphor: ReFantazio has a chance to become a series - game director

Hashino, when discussing the studio's future plans, expressed interest in developing a game set during Japan's Sengoku period. He envisions this historical setting as ideal for a new Japanese role-playing game, potentially drawing inspiration from the Basara series.

Regarding Metaphor: ReFantazio, Hashino confirmed there are no current plans for a direct sequel. However, he emphasized his commitment to completing the current project. He revealed that the game was originally conceived as a third major RPG series, alongside Persona and Shin Megami Tensei, aiming to become a flagship title for Atlus.

While a Metaphor: ReFantazio sequel is unlikely to be the studio's next project, an anime adaptation is under consideration. Metaphor: ReFantazio has already achieved remarkable success for Atlus, boasting a peak concurrent player count exceeding 85,961. This surpasses the concurrent player counts of Persona 5 Royal (35,474) and Persona 3 Reload (45,002). The game is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
