Marvel Rivals Developer Is 'Open' to Potential Future Release on Nintendo Switch 2

Marvel Rivals, the acclaimed hero shooter, is a smash hit on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. However, NetEase, the developer, has consistently stated it won't launch on the original Nintendo Switch due to performance limitations. But what about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2?

This question was put to Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas. The news is positive for Switch fans! Wu explained, "We're already in contact with Nintendo and working on some development kits. If we can deliver a high-quality gaming experience on the Switch 2, we're definitely open to releasing it. The original Switch couldn't provide the performance our game needs. If the Switch 2 meets that requirement, we'll consider it."

PlayThe Nintendo Switch 2 was officially unveiled last month. While specifics are scarce, it's expected to be a more powerful console with enhanced capabilities. Interestingly, it seems to incorporate mouse-like controls, potentially making shooters like Marvel Rivals feel more akin to a PC experience. The exact implementation remains to be seen.

The Nintendo Switch 2 lacks a confirmed release date, but a Nintendo Direct is scheduled for April 2nd. Meanwhile, Marvel Rivals is available now on other platforms and has received positive critical reception. Our 8/10 review praised the game, stating it "might closely resemble previous hero shooters, but it's well-positioned to become the genre's leading title." The Human Torch and The Thing are set to join the roster on February 21st.
