Love and Deepspace Is Adding Face Verification to Its Chinese Version

Love and Deepspace is enhancing its security in China with a new face verification system, launching in April 2025. This might sound strict, but it's primarily aimed at preventing underage players from accessing the 18+ rated game.

Why the Face Verification?

This move aligns with China's existing real-name authentication requirements for online games and its broader efforts to combat gaming addiction among minors, as mandated by the Minors’ Protection Law. These regulations include playtime restrictions (90 minutes on weekdays, three hours on weekends) and mandatory "Healthy Gaming Advice" prompts. Facial recognition technology is already widely used in China for various security purposes.

Global Impact?

For players outside of China, this change is unlikely to affect gameplay. The face verification system is specifically implemented to comply with Chinese regulations. As Love and Deepspace maintains a 12+ rating in most global app stores, there are no plans to introduce similar verification globally.
