"Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Hits Major Sales Milestone"

Following its release in late 2024, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP has achieved significant sales success, surpassing 200,000 units sold. This remastered version of the classic action game has attracted a large number of fans eager to relive the unique experience, despite some initial technical hiccups and allegations of censorship.

Originally developed by Grasshopper Manufacture, known for its distinctive action games like the No More Heroes series, Lollipop Chainsaw is a hack-and-slash title featuring a cheerleader named Juliet Starling who wields a chainsaw to battle zombies. The remaster, however, was handled by Dragami Games, who enhanced the game with quality-of-life improvements and a substantial visual upgrade.

Several months post-launch in September 2024, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP has reportedly sold over 200,000 copies across all platforms, including current and last-gen systems and PC. This milestone was announced by Dragami Games via a tweet, celebrating the game's robust sales figures.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Developers Celebrate The Game's Sales Success

In Lollipop Chainsaw, players take on the role of Juliet Starling, a cheerleader at San Romero High School who discovers her family's legacy as zombie hunters when her school is overrun by the undead. The gameplay involves battling hordes of zombies and unique bosses using Juliet's chainsaw, offering a hack-and-slash experience reminiscent of titles like Bayonetta.

The original game, released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012, was even more successful, reportedly selling over a million copies. Much of its appeal stemmed from the collaboration between renowned game designer Goichi Suda and filmmaker James Gunn, who contributed to the game's story and writing.

While there is currently no news on additional content or a sequel to Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, the sales success bodes well for remasters of niche games. This trend is further evidenced by the recent update to another Grasshopper Manufacture title, Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, which has been released across all current platforms, bringing the action-horror game to new audiences on modern hardware.
